Study Tour to Yogyakarta
Two years ago, on November 28th, 2023, when I was still in the 8th grade of junior high school, my school held a study tour to Yogyakarta. All the students were very enthusiastic because this activity had been eagerly awaited for a long time. We gathered at school around 7 p.m. after the evening prayer (Isya). After that, we departed together by tour bus.
The trip to Yogyakarta took quite a long time, but it didn’t feel boring at all. Along the way, we chatted, sang songs, and played together with our friends on the bus. However, we were not allowed to stay up too late because the teachers who accompanied us reminded us to rest and sleep so that we would be fresh the next day.
The following morning, we stopped for a while to perform the Subuh prayer at a mosque. After that, we continued our journey to the first destination, Drini Beach. Before going to the beach, we had breakfast at a restaurant located not far from the beach. When we arrived, we played with the sand, swam, and took photos to capture the beautiful moments with friends. The atmosphere at the beach was very fun, even though the weather was quite hot.
After enjoying the beach, we continued our trip to the second destination, Prambanan Temple. Unfortunately, when we arrived, it was raining heavily, so we could not explore the temple complex further. Even so, Prambanan Temple still looked magnificent and beautiful, even in the rain. We only managed to walk around for a short while and admired the temple’s beauty before moving on to the next place.
Our third destination was the Aerospace Museum. At this place, we learned many things about the history of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU). The collections in the museum were very diverse, ranging from aircraft and motor vehicles, missiles and weaponry, dioramas of historical events, photos and important documents, to uniforms and other artifacts. We also saw airplane replicas that made the museum even more interesting and realistic.
After spending the whole day sightseeing, we then headed to our last destination, Malioboro Street. But before that, we had dinner at a restaurant. After finishing our meal, we continued to Malioboro. The atmosphere there was very lively with many tourists, both domestic and international. At Malioboro, we bought Yogyakarta’s souvenirs such as batik, t-shirts, and traditional snacks. We also had the chance to meet some foreign tourists who were enjoying the city’s atmosphere.
Finally, after all the activities were completed, we returned to the bus for the trip back home. Even though we were tired, we felt very happy and grateful to be able to join this study tour. We gained so many experiences, knowledge, and unforgettable memories. For me, the study tour to Yogyakarta was one of the most beautiful moments during my junior high school years, because not only did I learn new things, but I also grew closer to my friends and teachers.
